Two pints of beer from Wedge in Asheville, NC.

Cozy atmosphere for a pint at Wedge Brewing Co.

Wedged between the railroad and the confines of the River Arts district in Asheville, Wedge Brewing Company seemed like the perfect epitome of the mountain town. Relaxed, yet feverishly passionate about what it loves. And in this case, it’s beer. Judging by the number of breweries in the small town, seemingly just about everyone in Asheville loves to brew craft beer. Wedge, akin to something like Raleigh Brewing, is the type of no-nonsense type of place that you grab a beer with a friend or your furry companion to have an intimate conversation. Outside, you can plop down one out of a number of picnic tables or sit under its covered patio on some eclectic gear-themed seating. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself zoning out with a pint of Wedge’s Iron Rail IPA to the hypnotic hum of the food truck generator that’s likely parked out front.
