Arrival at ‘Destination Dix’

Thousands of area residents descended upon Dorothea Dix Park on Saturday, July 23 to get a first glimpse at the 308-acre sprawling campus acquired last year by the City of Raleigh. The event called “Destination Dix” gave nearby residents and the public at large  an opportunity to explore the space and to become involved in the master planning process for the park set for 2017.

Despite sweltering temperatures in the mid-90’s, families and citizens, flocked onto The Big Field on campus, by way of free shuttle buses, to enjoy the festivities that included local vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, carnival rides and performances from local bands.
